Shia LaBeouf ‘desperately needs’ help and treatment, says lawyer

Shia LaBeouf’s lawyer says he is “actively seeking ... treatment that he desperately needs” just two weeks after ex-girlfriend FKA twigs filed a sexual misconduct lawsuit against the actor.

“Shia needs help and he knows that,” the “Honey Boy” writer-star’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, told E! News in a statement Friday.

“We are actively seeking the kind of meaningful, intensive, long-term inpatient treatment that he desperately needs.”

FKA twigs filed a lawsuit on Dec. 11, alleging that Shia LaBeouf was physically and emotionally abusive during a relationship in 2018 and 2019.

Holley’s statement came on the heels of reports that Olivia Wilde fired the “off-putting” actor, 34, from the cast of her upcoming sophomore film, “Don’t Worry Darling.” Originally, it was reported that scheduling conflicts led to LaBeouf leaving the project.

The news concerning Wilde’s feelings about the former Disney Channel star followed FKA twigs’ lawsuit, which she filed on Dec. 11.

“Shia LaBeouf hurts women. He uses them. He abuses them both physically and mentally. He is dangerous,” the British-born singer’s complaint claims, noting that, “For too long, LaBeouf has sought to excuse his reprehensible actions as the eccentricities of a free-thinking ‘artist.’”

In an email to The New York Times, concerning the 32-year-old’s allegations, LaBeouf wrote he is “not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel” adding that while “many of these allegations are not true” he has “no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations.

“I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years,” LaBeouf wrote. “I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”

FKA twigs’ filing accuses the “Disturbia” star of sexual battery, assault, infliction of emotional distress, and claims he knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

A stylist who also formerly dated LaBeouf, who in 2014 was sentenced to six months of outpatient rehab after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct, made similar claims in another lawsuit.

In 2017, the actor was arrested for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and obstruction, for which he was sentenced to probation and ordered to undergo therapy.

Though LaBeouf has not publicly responded to her claims, Sia spoke out after FKA twigs’ filing to say she was also “hurt emotionally” by LaBeouf, who allegedly “conned” the singer into an “adulterous relationship.”
