The stabbing is the third killing at the Red Hook Houses since June.

Nearly two weeks ago, on Dec. 14, a gunman fatally shot 22-year-old Conrad Waterton in the face outside another building in the complex. Waterton, who was paroled from state prison two months earlier, was preparing for the birth of his child and was killed the day before he was supposed to start a new job with FedEx, his family told the Daily News.

On June 1, 29-year-old David Gorham shot Elvin Fernandez, 27, in the head outside the housing development. Fernandez died more than three weeks later. Gorham was indicted on murder and other charges.
