Black Lives Matter protester charged with assaulting dog walker during argument on Upper West Side

A Black Lives Matter protester has been charged with assaulting and trying to rob an Upper West Side dog walker who taunted him and other demonstrators last month, police said.

Desmond Marrero, 25, surrendered to police Thursday with his lawyer. Cops were still looking for at least two other suspects in the Oct. 24 clash on Central Park West and W. 67th St.

The dog walker was at the corner around 3:30 p.m. when he saw the protesters, a few of whom were carrying a Black Lives Matter banner.

As they chanted “Whose streets? Our streets!” the victim — who is white — picked up a traffic cone and screamed “No Afro supremacy!" into it like a megaphone, sources with knowledge of the case said.

One Black protester punched the victim in the face while a second white protester slammed him to the ground and stomped on the victim, sources said.

The victim tried to fend his attackers with his wooden cane while recording the incident on his phone. A third protester tried to take the man’s phone but he wouldn’t let it go, cops said.

Eventually other demonstrators broke up the fight and moved the march along, police said.

The dog walker suffered some bruises and pain to his legs, but refused medical attention. His small dog also injured its paw, authorities said.

The victim shared his video with police, who distributed images of the suspects to the media.

Marrero, of the Bronx, was charged with aggravated harassment, assault, and attempted robbery. His arraignment was pending in Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday.
